The Hormone–Mood Connection

Hormones influence far more than just reproductive health. They also affect mood, sleep, anxiety, and emotional regulation.

During pregnancy and postpartum, hormone levels change dramatically. Add sleep deprivation and the pressure many mothers feel to keep everything together, and it’s easy to see why so many women feel overwhelmed.

In our conversation, we talk about the difference between baby blues and postpartum depression, why prenatal anxiety is more common than people realise, and how sleep deprivation can intensify emotional struggles.

We also touch on something many mothers feel but rarely say out loud: maternal rage and irritability, and why these experiences deserve understanding rather than shame.
